L’ultimo volume della collana open access AILA Applied Linguistics Series (AALS) propone una riflessione sull’evoluzione della linguistica applicata, disciplina che da oltre sessant’anni opera all’incrocio tra linguaggio e società, rispondendo a bisogni concreti della vita reale.

Sulla scia dei dibattiti sviluppati durante l’AILA World Congress 2023 in Francia, il volume rilancia l’idea di una ricerca socialmente responsiva ed eticamente fondata. L’insieme dei contributi mette in luce, da un lato, come la linguistica applicata si sia trasformata in risposta ai cambiamenti sociali e politici e, dall’altro, come la ricerca stessa abbia inciso sul mondo contemporaneo.

In prospettiva futura, il volume invita a promuovere linee di ricerca capaci di oltrepassare i confini accademici e di costruire alleanze con comunità, decisori politici e professionisti, per affrontare alcune delle questioni più urgenti del presente. Ne emergono spunti rilevanti non solo per studiosi e studiose, ma anche per studenti, insegnanti e altre figure attive nel settore.

Il volume si presenta così sia come una celebrazione dell’eredità intellettuale della disciplina, sia come una traccia per il suo rinnovamento, nel segno dell’identità democratica e partecipativa della linguistica applicata.
