We are pleased to announce the 7th International Conference: Crossroads of Languages and Cultures, which will be held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, on April 2-4, 2026. Co-organised by the School of Early Childhood Education (SECEd), Faculty of Education, AUTh and the Confucius Institute at AUTh, this conference aims to bring together researchers, educators and practitioners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds to explore the complexities of multilingualism, translanguaging, language learning and plurilingual education in today’s interconnected world.

Particular points of interest involve the ways in which theoretical constructs and tools such as diversity, multilingualism, and translanguaging recast and are reinterpreted in contexts of superdiversity, postcolonialism/decolonizing, and relevant new epistemologies. The conference seeks to bridge pedagogical, sociopolitical, epistemological, and theoretical perspectives from diverse fields with a focus on multilingualism in education.

Main Conference Themes

We invite submissions on (but not limited to) the following topics:

·       Multilingualism and Language Contact

·       Translanguaging in Education and Society

·       Learning and Teaching Additional Languages

·       Chinese as an Additional Language

·       Language Acquisition and Learners’ Strategies

·       Multilingual and Multicultural Learning Environments and Digital Technology

·       Intercultural Communication and Identity in Education

·       New epistemological approaches to diversity, multilingualism and translanguaging in the current context of postcolonialism/decolonizing
